Information We Collect
When you contact Cal Direct Cremation — by phone, email, or through our website forms — we collect only the information you choose to provide: your name, contact details, and any information relevant to arranging or planning direct cremation services. Some of this information is required by California law for death certificate preparation.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to:
- Respond to your inquiry or arrangement request
- Prepare and file required legal documents (death certificate, cremation permit, Social Security notification)
- Coordinate services with hospitals, hospices, crematories, and other authorized partners
- Communicate with you about your Peace of Mind Plan or arrangements in progress
- Comply with California law and professional licensing requirements
What We Don't Do
We never sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not use your information to target advertising. We do not transfer your information outside the United States.
Information Sharing
We share information only with the entities needed to provide the services you've requested: licensed California crematories, the county and state agencies that process legal documents, and (with your permission) family members or legal representatives you designate.
Website Analytics
Our website uses standard analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use the site. This information is aggregated and does not identify individual visitors. You can opt out of these cookies through your browser settings.
Data Retention
We retain client records as required by California law and professional standards. Preneed Plan documents are retained indefinitely while active and may be destroyed only at your written request. Website inquiry data is retained for 12 months unless you become a client.
Your Rights
Under California law, you have the right to request access to the information we hold about you, to request corrections, and to request deletion of information not required for legal retention. Contact us at care@caldirectcremation.com for any such request.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards (encryption, access controls, secure storage) to protect your information. If a breach ever affected your data, we would notify you promptly as required by California law.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this policy, we'll post the updated version here with a new effective date. For significant changes, we'll notify affected clients directly.
